What is a listed building?

A listed building is a property that is protected from alteration by the law, in order to preserve its aesthetic. Usually, these buildings are older and fit a certain type of design or period, which Historic England has deemed worthy to protect.

The protection system has been in operation since 1947 and grows bigger each year as more properties are added to it. Sometimes the entire building is protected, whereas sometimes it's just the facade so as to keep in line with the traditional street design, so when undertaking refurbishment, replacement wooden doors are often required that match the aesthetic precisely.

Which wooden doors can we replace?

If you're looking to replace french doors, we offer 4mm toughened safety glass as standard for all of our glass panels. The glass is weatherproof, same as for our window collections. As for door handles, we offer a range of standard door handles as well as some more bespoke ironmongery options, if you're looking for a more traditional appearance. If you already have a specific set of handles you want fitted, reach out to our team to find out if they match our criteria. The final touch is often the most important, and we have a huge range of wood stains to fit your requirements. We can also match any colour you might already have with microporous paint that'll add an extra layer of protection to your external wooden doors.
